23 "Almighty God" cult members sentenced in Yichun, Jiangxi

On December 20, 2019, the People's Court of Yuanzhou District, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province organized and used cult organizations to violate the law and executed the crime. Twenty-three people including the defendant Liu Aiyi and Peng Song were sentenced to seven years and six months to two years Six months. The defendant Liu Aiyi, female, was born in Suichuan County, Jiangxi Province in January 1993. She is of Han nationality, junior high school, and unemployed. Defendant Peng Song, female, was born in Yichun City, Jiangxi Province in November 1991. She is of Han nationality, junior high school, and unemployed. He was arrested on October 16, 2018.

Defendant Liu Chuntao, female, was born in April 1974 in Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province. She is of Han nationality, primary school culture, and unemployed. On September 14, 2018, he was criminally detained by the Yuanzhou Branch of the Public Security Bureau of Yichun City on suspicion of criminal organization and the use of cult organizations to undermine the law, and was arrested on September 22, 2018.

Defendant Luo Dongfeng, female, was born in June 1971 in Huichang County, Jiangxi Province. She is of Han nationality, junior high school, and unemployed. On September 8, 2018, he was criminally detained by the Yuanzhou Branch of the Public Security Bureau of Yichun City on suspicion of organizing crimes and using cult organizations to undermine the law, and was arrested on September 21, 2018.

Defendant Yang Qingmei, female, was born in Yichun City, Jiangxi Province in December 1969. She is of Han nationality, junior high school, and unemployed. On September 8, 2018, he was criminally detained by the Yuanzhou Branch of the Public Security Bureau of Yichun City on suspicion of criminal organization and the use of cult organizations to undermine the law, and was arrested on September 21, 2018.

The defendant Xie Zhujun, female, was born in Anyuan County, Jiangxi Province in September 1998. She is of Han nationality, has a high school culture, and is unemployed. On September 29, 2018, he was criminally detained by the Yuanzhou Branch of the Public Security Bureau of Yichun City on suspicion of organizing crimes and using cult organizations to undermine the law. He was arrested on October 26, 2018.

The defendant Zhong Hong, female, was born in December 1972 in Yichun City, Jiangxi Province. She is of Han nationality, secondary technical education, and unemployed. On September 8, 2018, he was criminally detained by Yuanzhou Branch of Yichun City Public Security Bureau for suspected criminal organization and using cult organizations to undermine the law, and was arrested on October 16, 2018.

Defendant Wang Chunxiu, female, was born in Huichang County, Jiangxi Province in February 1976;

Defendant Sun Junlan, female, was born in Xingan County, Jiangxi Province in November 1981;

Defendant Liu Xiaochun, female, was born in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province in April 1960;

The defendant Qiu Jinying, female, was born in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province in October 1962;

The defendant Yi Dongxiu, female, was born in Yichun City, Jiangxi Province in September 1976;

The defendant, Long Shuisheng, male, was born in Luxi County, Jiangxi Province in June 1976;

Defendant Peng Shaohong, male, was born in Yichun City, Jiangxi Province in September 1971;

The defendant Jiang Julian, female, was born in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province in July 1970;

The defendant Gu Xinxiu, female, was born in Yichun, Jiangxi Province in November 1973;

Defendant Zhang Yalan, female, was born in Yichun City, Jiangxi Province in October 1974;

Defendant Yuan Youxiu, female, was born in Yichun City, Jiangxi Province in December 1977;

Defendant Huang Wenfang, female, was born in Shanggao County, Jiangxi Province in January 1996;

Defendant Li Xiaoju, female, was born in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province in October 1969;

The defendant, Lin Shuang, female, was born in Luxi County, Jiangxi Province in December 1994;

Defendant Zhong Dexiu, female, was born in Yichun, Jiangxi Province in November 1963.

The Intermediate People's Court of Yichun designated this case to be tried by the Yuanzhou District People's Court. The Yuanzhou District People's Court has formed a collegial panel in accordance with the law and applies ordinary procedures to openly hear the case.

The court's trial found that the defendants Liu Aiyi, Peng Song, Liu Chuntao, and others have joined the "Almighty God" cult since 2006. The defendant Liu Aihuan and Peng Song were the heads of the Gannan District of the "Almighty God" cult. They were responsible for the functional groups such as the art group, video group and webpage group of Yichun Community under the jurisdiction of Gannan District.

The public security organs seized a large number of cult materials, books, notebooks, computers, storage media and other crime tools in the case, and seized a large amount of "Almighty God" video, audio, documents, pictures and other information from the storage media. The Yichun City Public Security Bureau determined that the above-mentioned seized storage media, pictures, books, audio and video and other related items were all identified as "Almighty God" cult propaganda materials.

The court held that the defendants, Liu Aiyi, Peng Song, and Liu Chuntao, knew that the state had explicitly banned the "Almighty God" cult and prohibited them from engaging in "Almighty God" cult activities. Development, dissemination, and undermining the implementation of the law all constitute acts of organizing and using cult organizations to undermine the enforcement of the law. The defendants Liu Aihuan and Peng Song were the heads of the "Almighty God" cult organization area. They were the backbone of the cult organization, and the circumstances were particularly serious. The defendant Liu Chuntao, Luo Dongfeng, and Yang Qingmei successively served as the heads of the "Business Group" of the "Almighty God" cult organization. The defendants Xie Zhujun and Zhong Hong respectively served as the "Art Group" and the church leader of the "Almighty God" cult organization. Five defendants were the principal offenders.

The court based on the crime facts, nature, circumstances and social harmfulness of the 23 defendants, in accordance with Article 300, paragraph 1, Article 25, paragraph 1, and 26 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China. Article 27, Article 52, Article 64, Article 72, paragraphs 1 and 3, Article 73, paragraphs 2 and 3, and the Supreme People's Court, Supreme People's Procuratorate Interpretation of Several Issues concerning the Application of Law in Criminal Cases Handling Organizations, Utilizing Cult Organizations to Destroy Law Enforcement, etc. "Articles 2, 13 and 3, Clause 3" shall be sentenced to the defendant for the crime of organizing and using cult organizations to undermine the law. Liu Aiyi and Peng Song were sentenced to seven years and six months in prison and fined 20,000 yuan; the defendants Liu Chuntao, Luo Dongfeng, Yang Qingmei, Xie Zhujun and Zhong Hong were sentenced to five years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan; the defendant Zeng Xiaofang , Wang Chunxiu, Sun Junlan, Liu Xiaochun, Qiu Jinying, Yi Dongxiu, Long Shuisheng, Jiang Julian, Gu Xinxiu, Zhang Yalan, Yuan Youxiu, Huang Wenfang, Li Xiaoju, Lin Shuang were sentenced to three years in prison and fined; defendant Peng Red imprisonment for two years six months and fined; the defendant must show the clock for six months to two years imprisonment, suspended for three years and fined.
